MALCOLM WASNINGTON CLARK
Malcolm Washington Clark passed away January 4, 2007 at Riverview Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Savannah in 1918, the son of Marvin F. Clark and Mary Elizabeth Burnley Clark.
Malcolm grew up in Liberty County. He served in the United States Army in the 101st Coast Artillery in Papua Guinea during WWII. As staff Sergeant under combat conditions, he received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. After WWII, his career was spent as a printer with various newspapers, including The Metter Advertiser, The Liberty County Herald and the Savannah Morning News. He retired from the Savannah Morning News after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Faith Primitive Baptist Church and was a mason.
Malcolm was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Rubye Mixon Clark.
Surviving are his two daughters and son in laws, Beth and Van Findley of Rincon, Ginger and Claude Shore, Jr., of Savannah, granddaughter, Leza Shore, his sister, Merle Johnson of Dublin, GA, his brother, Shelby Clark of Orlando, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, January 5, 2007 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel with the Elder Dean Robbins officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
